We built Tekir because search deserved better.
Tekir started in 2024 as a weekend experiment: could a tiny team build a search engine that doesn't spy on you? It grew into something we never expected, hundreds of searches a month, powered by its own metasearch provider and a community that reported bad results like they were weeding a shared garden.
We kept it independent and ad-free for as long as we could. Rising infrastructure costs, student life and the reality of competing with giants mean we can't keep the lights on sustainably. Rather than sell out or fade into something we're not proud of, we're choosing a deliberate goodbye.
